Royal Derby Hospital
Royal Derby Hospital is a large acute teaching hospital in Derby with 1,159 beds, opened in 2010 on the site of the former Derby City General Hospital. It has a 24-hour adult Emergency Department with a rooftop helipad, a separate Children's Emergency Department and an on-site Urgent Treatment Centre (Blue Urgent Care), plus a maternity and gynaecology unit, a children's hospital, neonatal intensive care and cancer treatment with four linear accelerators.

Open 24-hour visiting on the Intensive Care Units; Paediatric Critical Care: 2 parents at any time
Open 24-hour visiting also on the Medical Assessment Unit and Macmillan Unit. Day case and elective admission lounges generally have no visitor access. Protected mealtime at lunch (relatives who help a patient eat can arrange to stay). Free Wi-Fi on site.
Parking at Royal Derby Hospital
Barrier car parks off the internal loop road: Car Parks 2, 6 (new multi-storey opposite Maternity & Gynaecology, opened November 2025) and 7 have no maximum stay; Car Park 3 under the Kings Treatment Centre is for Blue Badge holders only. Free 10-minute drop-off at the Main Entrance and free 30-minute drop-off at A&E, Entrances 21 and 24 and the Children's Hospital. The park and ride has closed. Tariffs are not published on the trust's parking page.
Free or reduced parking: Free for holders of a valid Blue Badge (no time limit in Blue Badge spaces). Frequent outpatients (at least 3 times a month for 3 months) who already get free parking keep it by having their ticket stamped. Maternity patients who overstay in an emergency are not charged extra.
