Royal Hampshire County Hospital
Royal Hampshire County Hospital is Winchester's general hospital on Romsey Road, with a 24-hour Emergency Department, a stroke centre, intensive care, surgery, chemotherapy and paediatric care; a new Urgent Treatment Centre is being built. Florence Portal House on the site provides maternity (including a labour ward), neonatal, breast screening and some gynaecology services.

Exemptions to times and numbers can be requested (e.g. learning disability, dementia, end of life care). Children under 12 need the nurse in charge's permission except in maternity or end-of-life care. Protected mealtimes; carers may come in to help with meals. Flowers are not allowed.
Parking at Royal Hampshire County Hospital
Parking is extremely limited; the trust recommends Winchester Park and Ride (Barfield/St Catherine's at M3 J10, South Winchester at J11), whose buses stop at the hospital. Patient parking on Level 6 of the multi-storey (barrier, pay on exit) and pay and display at Queens Road and the maternity car park. Parking near the Emergency Department is currently very limited because of building works for the new UTC. Do not use Hillier Garden Centre's car park. Tariffs from 1 April 2026.
